As Josephine Mittelstadt, daughter of Edward and Rachel Sells Mittelstadt, she was born July 8, 1864, at Watertown, Wisconsin, coming to Fayette county at an early age. On Dec. 7, 1892, she was united in marriage to Don H. TALCOTT. They made their home on a farm, now owned by Ray Arthur, for 50 years. To them were born three children, twins, Frank, now living at Webster City, and Frances, now Mrs. Upton, Jefferson, and a daughter, Ruby, who died Oct. 19, 1897, at the age of two years. Mrs. Talcott died Tuesday morning in her sleep following an illness of more than a year. On Dec. 7, 1952, the couple observed their 60th wedding anniversary here in Maynard, where they have resided since retiring from the farm ten years ago. She is survived by her husband, her daughter, Frances, and son, Frank; a nephew, Arvid Guthrie, whom she and her husband took into their home and reared to young manhood. He now resides at Yuma, Ariz.; five granddaughters, three grandsons, and nine great grandchildren. One grandson, Robert Upton, was killed in France during World War II.
