Description	:	Georgetown Times April 15 1954 Recent Deaths Josephine P Hanks of Georgetown formerly of Philadelphia and Washington NC died Saturday afternoon at a semi invalid nursing home in Lynchburg. She had been in failing health for years and seriously ill for several days. Funeral services were held at 5 pm Monday at the chapel of the Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev Ace Tubbs pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Miss Hanks was born January 4 1875 at Washington NC a daughter of the late Fredrick F Hanks and the late Mrs Lucy Latham Hanks. ... She was educated at North Carolina College for Women Greensboro and moved to Philadelphia in 1902 to accept a secretarial position with Republic Iron and Steel Co Following her retirement a number of years ago she continued to reside in Philadelphia until she came here to make her home with her sister Mrs LH Siau in December 1950. She had been a patient at the semi invalid home for over two years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Washington NC. She is survived by two sisters Mrs LH Siau of Georgetown and Miss Hattie Hanks of Alexandria VA and a brother George K Hanks of Chevy Chase Md.
