| Description | : | Josiah was born 19 Nov 1800 in Tennessee, the son of William L. Dodd, Sr. and Agnes Blakely. He married Elizabeth Duncan on 16 March 1824 in Jefferson County, Tennessee. Elizabeth was the daughter of John Duncan and Jennet McCullah. They started their family in Tennessee, then in 1838 they removed to Sangamon County, Illinois, along with Josiah's parents and many of his siblings and Elizabeth's widowed mother and many of her siblings.
