Josiah Wall was born in Putnam County, Ind., in June 1832, and died on Sunday afternoon, March 2, 1902, aged 69 years, 8 months and 9 days. He came to Nebraska in 1865 and located near Syracuse. Sold out there in '70 and came to Palmyra Precinct, town 3. He was married twice. His first wife, Miss Davis, died in this village in 1883, by whom he had 11 children, 5 girls and 3 boys living. Josiah Wall was born in Putnam County, Ind., in June 1832, and died on Sunday afternoon, March 2, 1902, aged 69 years, 8 months and 9 days. He came to Nebraska in 1865 and located near Syracuse. Sold out there in '70 and came to Palmyra Precinct, town 3. He was married twice. His first wife, Miss Davis, died in this village in 1883, by whom he had 11 children, 5 girls and 3 boys living. He married his second wife in March 1886, by whom he had one child. He was buried in Syracuse beside his first wife. Rev. S. Miller conducted the services at the house before the funeral cortage started for his final home. Mr. Wall was about as well known as any man in the county and respected. He was a strong political partyman and hated a republican, not the man, but his tenets, in whom he saw little but guile. His emphatic partisanship, very naturally, caused him to be spurned by those he despised... was caught, as were thousands beside, in the Bryan maelstrom, hoping thereby to gently lead the kicking republicans into the open arms of democracy. This aside, he was a first class man, thoroughly devoted to his family by whom he was justly adored. We have named all the faults he had, as far as we know, and we knew him well, and now close by naming a virtue he fully possessed - he was honest. His bereaved family are very grateful to each and every one that, in his illness, showed him kindness and assisted them in the last sad rites.
