Description	:	Jotham is the son of Capt. Henry & Jane (Merrill) Cummings and married Mary Cheney Jan. 1, 1833. To this union were born 5 children: Emily Jane 1833; Sarah Jerusha 1835; George Jotham 1838; Mary Emeline 1840; and Charles Wilson 1846. North Groton Prof. George I. Cummings returned to Washington, D. C., Wednesday. Mrs. Rusha Piper of Wilmington, Del., is in town, called here by the death of her father, Mr. Jonathan Cummings. D. M. Tenney and wife, A. J. McClure, Henry Cummings, James A. Cummings and Orville Cummings of Plymouth, were in town to attend the funeral of Mr. Cummings. Died, at North Groton, Jan.... Read More	Jotham is the son of Capt. Died, at North Groton, Jan. 8th, Mr. Jonathan Cummings in his 89th year. Mr. Cummings was the oldest man in town. He and his good wife passed the 60th anniversary of their marriage the first day of this month, and in the same house where they first commenced housekeeping, 60 years ago. Mr. Cummings was a kind neighbor and always took an active part in all affairs for the benefit of the community. He was a devoted member of the Congregational church all his life. His good council will be missed by all. Rev. F. G. Clark of Plymouth officiated at his funeral Jan. 10th.
