Description	:	Joyce Ann Jackson left her earthly tent behind at Reid Hospital on Saturday, August 16, 2014, after months of declining health. Joyce was born in rural Centerville, Indiana, to Russell Charles and Hilda Esther Ridenour Jackson on August 30, 1933. She graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1951, and went on to complete the Secretarial curriculum at International Business College in Fort Wayne. Read More	Joyce Ann Jackson left her earthly tent behind at Reid Hospital on Saturday, August 16, 2014, after months of declining health. Joyce was born in rural Centerville, Indiana, to Russell Charles and Hilda Esther Ridenour Jackson on August 30, 1933. She graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1951, and went on to complete the Secretarial curriculum at International Business College in Fort Wayne. Joyce embarked on a long, diverse career beginning at Earlham College in 1954. While at Earlham, she served as secretary to President Thomas E. Jones, Manager of Office Services, and Social Sciences Division Secretary. As technology began to change in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, Joyce turned her focus toward an emerging word processing discipline. These new opportunities led Joyce to the defense contracting industry in conjunction with Wright Patterson AFB. She spent 30 years as a data specialist with various firms while following specific contracts along their course as they transitioned to new providers. When her last major project was about to move to another contractor, Joyce decided to retire instead of changing addresses again. Joyce used retirement to the fullest by quilting and doing machine embroidery. When finding spare time, she also enjoyed completing rubber stamping projects as gifts and greeting cards. Her other strong passion was IU basketball. She became an avid fan in the early 70’s, and was still following the Hoosiers this past season. Joyce lived in the Dayton, Ohio area for almost 40 years before moving back to Richmond in 2009. She had been a member of the Beavercreek Church of the Nazarene for many years before returning to Richmond. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her brother, Noble Jackson and sister-in-law, Jane Jackson. Visitation for Joyce Ann Jackson will be from 1 to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Mills Funeral Home with Stan Eastman officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Mills Funeral Home - August 18, 2014
