Description	:	Joyce Elaine Westhoff, 76, of Hepler, Kansas, passed away at 11:25p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Girard Medical Center. Joyce was born February 2, 1941 in rural Hepler, Kansas, a daughter of Arthur and Myrtle (Guss) Hays. She attended school in Hepler, graduating from the Hepler High School. On June 4, 1960 she and Roger Westhoff were united in marriage at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Walnut, he survives of the home. Joyce was very active throughout her life. Read More	Joyce Elaine Westhoff, 76, of Hepler, Kansas, passed away at 11:25p.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Girard Medical Center. Joyce was born February 2, 1941 in rural Hepler, Kansas, a daughter of Arthur and Myrtle (Guss) Hays. She attended school in Hepler, graduating from the Hepler High School. On June 4, 1960 she and Roger Westhoff were united in marriage at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Walnut, he survives of the home. Joyce was very active throughout her life. In addition to partnering with husband Roger to provide a loving home for their family, Joyce also served as a rural mail carrier in Girard and Pittsburg, she was an employee of the Key Clothing Co., she was a care provider for the residents of rest homes in Uniontown and Moran, she operated a restaurant in Hepler, and worked alongside her husband in their farming and business operations. Joyce was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church of Walnut, the Altar Society of the church, the Red Hat Ladies and served as a 4-H Leader. In addition to her husband, Joyce is survived by three sons, two daughters, fifteen Grandchildren; and eighteen Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; John Hays, Norman Hays, one daughter, Pam Matile and one Grandchild. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Girard; burial will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery, Walnut, Kansas. Rosary will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6th at the St. Michael Catholic Church with a visitation to follow. Friends are invited to call at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m., Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Pittsburg or the Safe House of Pittsburg and these may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W. St. John P.O. Box 258 Girard, Kansas, 66743.
