Description	:	Joyce Clayton was born and raised in Durham County. She was educated in the Durham County schools and attended Wingate College. She served her family and community as a "stay-at-home mom" and later worked at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC. She was an active member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church and the Hudson Ladies' Sunday school class. Joyce was married to Grover Clayton for 64 years. He preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Griffin and her husband, Mike, of Hillsborough; her son, Rev. Steve Clayton and his wife, Alice, of Wilson; grandsons, William... Steve Clayton and his wife, Alice, of Wilson; grandsons, William Clayton, Michael Clayton and his wife, Victoria; step grandsons, Robert Griffin, and his wife, Veronica, and Wade Griffin; and sister, Francis Hunt Johnson of San Bernadino, CA. Mrs. Clayton was preceded in death by her parents, the late William Madison Hunt and her mothers, Jennie Kerr Hunt and Margaret Clark Hunt; a brother, Norman M. Hunt; and a sister, Hilda Hunt Donnelly. The family extends a special word of thanks to the staff of Brookshire Nursing Center, Hillsborough, NC for the professional and compassionate care provided to our mother. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 13th, at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Rev. Rich Goodier will officiate. Durham Herald-Sun - Mar 12, 2014
