Description	:	In her teen years Margaret Coles of Manchester instructed Joyce in water color. Joyce graduated from Manchester (West Delaware) high school. She attended college in California, earning a four year degree in the art field. Joyce worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, IA, for many years, working on the line and in the publications department. The publication's job entailed creating drawings and parts lists for the equipment instructions manuals. She attended college in California, earning a four year degree in the art field. Joyce worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, IA, for many years, working on the line and in the publications department. The publication's job entailed creating drawings and parts lists for the equipment instructions manuals. After Joyce retired from then Rockwell Collins, she resided with her parents in a farm house north of Manchester. Her mother would eventually require Joyce's assistance due to failing health, as did her father. Her sister Jean would sit with their parents so Joyce could run errands or go down to the barn and work on a project. Joyce was very talented, being able to do some wiring and carpentry work. She helped her cousins with repairs at their house as well. Genealogy was one of Joyce's hobbies, and she spent a lot of time at the Manchester library looking up information. She was an avid reader, but in her later years she listened to books on audio. Joyce and her sister Jean also sold craft/woodworking creations under the title J & J. Joyce liked to travel. Her cousin Judy and their roommate Karen road with her on a trip out to California to visit Joyce's relatives. Joyce talked them into camping out in the desert. Both Judy and Karen in later years said they didn't know if they would've had the courage to do that if they'd thought it over more. After a short illness Joyce passed away unexpectedly at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood, IA. She will be missed by several nieces and nephews, her two sister-in-laws, her cousins, her Aunt Zana, and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, her sister, and two nephews.
