She was preceded in death by her parents. Joyce was born May 30, 1941 in Cedar Falls to Marvin and Helen Cherveny. She married Dan Pence in Newton, IL on April 30, 1987. She was the Vice President at United Security Bank until her retirement in 2006. Joyce founded the Shellsburg Farmer's Market in 2007. She was Treasurer for the Shellsburg Area Community Group. Joyce was just elected Mayor of Shellsburg in November 2011. She was involved with the Shellsburg Golf Cart Gala and an officer of the Board of Directors of the Shellsburg Wildcat Golf Course. She was also a Master Gardener. Joyce Marie (Clark) Cherveny-Kalinay-Blanchard-Heisler-Pence was also survived by me, her brother Robert Ross (Clark) Cherveny. While were both adopted by Marvin Dale Cherveny, our biological father was Robert Russell Clark. We were adopted in 1952 after our mother, Helen Marie Cobet-Clark-Cherveny married Marvin Dale Cherveny in 1950. While Joyce was married to Daniel Pence when she died, her first husband, from Chelsea, was Larry Kalinay. To this marriage a son, Steven Ray Kalinay (Heisler) was born. Joyce then divorced Larry Kalinay and married Lawrence Blanchard from Cedar Rapids, IA. To this marriage a daughter, Marina Gaye Blanchard (Heisler) was born. Joyce then divorced Lawrence Blanchard and married Donald Gene Heisler. To this marriage a son, Jeffery Dale Heisler was born. Joyce subsequently divorced Donald Heisler and married Daniel Pence. In addition to these legitimate offspring, Joyce also had a daughter who died at birth and is buried at Rector Cemetery. Joyce had another son which was given up for adoption at birth at St. Luke’s in Cedar Rapids, IA. One other married was annulled after only two weeks.
