Read More	Salem, MA – Joyce Marie Harmon, a longtime resident of Waterville, died April 28 at the North Shore Medical Center in Salem, MA. She was 86 years old. Joyce was born on December 10, 1931 in Waterville, the only child of Edmond and Cora King. She graduated from Waterville High School in 1949 and worked at Stern’s Department Store and the Waterville Credit Bureau. She married Robert Harmon, her high school sweetheart, in 1954. In Waterville, the couple first lived on Water Street and then built a home at 80 West River Road, where they raised their family and lived for almost 30 years. She frequently worked as a bookkeeper at Carl’s For Flowers on Clark Street. Sadly, Joyce and Robert divorced in 1985, and Joyce moved to Nashua, NH, where she was a teller at Amoskeag Bank. She retired in 1995 and moved to Windham, NH. She enjoyed her apartment for 15 years before spending her final year with her family in Marblehead, MA. Joyce is survived by her three children, Debra Harmon Duff (Louis) of Washington, DC, Donna Harmon Vigue (Michael) of Marblehead, MA, and Gregory Jon Harmon (Tammy Hughes) of Haverhill, MA; six beloved grandchildren, Madeline Glyde Duff and Benjamin Harmon Duff of Washington, DC, Ashley (Vigue) Dupler (Ronald) and Tyler Michael Vigue of Marblehead, MA, and Lillian Grace Harmon and Trent Robert Harmon of Haverhill, MA; and one great-grandson, Wyatt Marc Dupler. She was pre-deceased by her parents, special Aunt Ida Mae Letourneau and several aunts and cousins, all from Waterville. Joyce was a prolific artist whose early oils garnered prizes at the Skowhegan State Fair. Paintings created for family and friends grace walls from Maine to North Carolina. Rugs braided from Lockwood Mill wool are still in use. She quilted, did ceramics and occasionally sewed her daughters’ clothes. But most of all, Joyce was a homemaker and mother of the highest order who always put her family first. She was tough and hardly ever complained, in spite of life’s challenges. She loved the beach, crime novels, cooking shows, a good fish sandwich and an occasional Budweiser. Family and friends spanning several generations will remember her with much love and affection and will miss her every day. Bburial will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville.
