Description	:	Joyce Marie Nichols, 83, of Luray, passed away Feb. 15, 2012, at Page Memorial Hospital. Born Aug. 13, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Julia Moyer. Joyce had worked several years at the Pentagon following graduation from high school and for a short time at Blue Bell Corp. in Luray. She was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a graduate of the 1946 class of Luray High School. Born Aug. 13, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Julia Moyer. Joyce had worked several years at the Pentagon following graduation from high school and for a short time at Blue Bell Corp. in Luray. She was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a graduate of the 1946 class of Luray High School. She was a happy, loving and devoted sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to travel, garden and plan family reunions. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth H. Nichols, who she married on June 18, 1948, at Main Street Baptist Church in Luray. Also surviving are her children, Donna C. Nichols, of Austin, Texas, Kathy N. Slye and husband, David Slye, of Luray, and Jeffrey K. Nichols of Shenandoah. She was very proud of her grandchildren, Kelly Marie Slye of Austin and Jamie Elaine Slye of Richmond. Joyce had five brothers and six sisters in her immediate family. She is survived by five sisters, Jane Smith of Luray, Mildred Huffman of Hyattsville, Md., Julia Anne Pace of Summerfield, N.C., Paige Peters of Arlington, and Belle Benoit of Ferndale, Wash. She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, at The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. on Feb. 18, at the Main Street Baptist Church in Luray with the Rev. Chuck Jolly officiating.
