Description	:	Joyce Maxine Brown, 92, of Anthon died April 18, 2011, in Correctionville, Iowa. Services were held Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Ben Wilson officiating. Burial follwed in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon, under direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home. A service conducted by the Anthon Legion Auxiliary followed the prayer service. Joyce Maxine (Robinson) Brown was born to Anna (McAllister) Robinson and Garf Robinson on August 20, 1918, at Lone Rock, Iowa. At the age of 5, she moved with her family to Battle Creek, Iowa. She graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1936. She then attended business school in Grand Island, Nebraska. Upon completion of her education, she became a bookkeeper for Iowa Master Breeders Hatchery in Onawa, Iowa, for six months and then transferred to their hatchery in Yankton, S.D. In 1939, she returned to her home and went to work at the Soil Conservation Office in Ida Grove, Iowa, until her marriage to Paul Brown in 1943. The couple farmed in the Anthon vicinity until 1957, when they moved into Anthon. She then went to work in Don Diamond's variety store for approximately 10 years. She also took over the Anthon Benefit Association in 1959 and was secretary of that organization for 24 years. Mr. Brown passed away December 7, 1989. Mrs. Brown lived in the Correctionville Nursing and Rehab for five years. She was a member of the Anthon United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Anthon Senior Citizen Group, the Royal Neighbor Lodge, and the Anthon Auxiliary. She loved to play cards, attend the Anthon senior dinners, and see her grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela and her husband, Merle Fowler, and Pat and her husband, David Burow; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; and four sisters-in-law.
