Joyce was born in Brewer, Oct. 30, 1937 the daughter of Willis and Helen (McClure) Quinn. She attended the Brick School in Cornville and was a graduate of Skowhegan High School (1955) and Farmington State Teachers College (UMF) in 1959 where she received her teaching degree in Home Economics. Savage, 78, died Nov. 10, 2015, at her home in Cornville in the same room where her mother was born in 1916. Joyce was born in Brewer, Oct. 30, 1937 the daughter of Willis and Helen (McClure) Quinn. She attended the Brick School in Cornville and was a graduate of Skowhegan High School (1955) and Farmington State Teachers College (UMF) in 1959 where she received her teaching degree in Home Economics. Following her college graduation, she began her long teaching career in Stratton, Maine. The following year she taught in Biddeford. From there she began a 24 year stint at Lawrence Junior High in Fairfield. Following retirement, Joyce became the camp manager at the Lakewood Theater Young Performers' Camp. Aware of her responsibility to the community, she served as past president of Semper Fidelis Club, the Cornville Food Cupboard; past president of the Cornville Historical Society, member of the Cornville School Fund, and member of the Skowhegan Woman's Club and a charter member of the Cornville Players, serving as treasurer and later became secretary of Curtain Up Enterprises at Lakewood Theater. Joyce had a strong faith and served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish Council. Joyce is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Russel E. She is also survived by her two brothers, Thomas and his wife Lynda of Skowhegan and Jeffrey and his wife Susan of Cornville. She also leaves four nieces, Alicia Boulette, Vanessa York, Jessica, Kyle Witty, Katherine Quinn and nephew Matthew Quinn. A burial will be held at the E. Ridge Cemetery in Cornville. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.
