Description	:	JOYCE ROSE (BARTELL) PRESZLER was born June 10, 1924, at Shadehill, SD. She was the youngest of eight children born to Charles and Fannie (Sandwick) Bartell. Joyce grew up at her family home and attended a local country school. She boarded in Lemmon while she attended Lemmon High School and she was a 1942 graduate of Lemmon High School and on. She was the youngest of eight children born to Charles and Fannie (Sandwick) Bartell. Joyce grew up at her family home and attended a local country school. She boarded in Lemmon while she attended Lemmon High School and she was a 1942 graduate of Lemmon High School and on. June 18, 1944, she married Kenneth Preszler at Shadehill, SD. They purchased a farm east of Meadow where they raised their children, Leon, Nancy, Linda, and Floyd. In 1996, Joyce and Kenneth sold their farm and moved to Lemmon. When Kenneth’s health began to fail, he was cared for at home by his wife until July 2008 when he entered the Hettinger ND nursing home, where he passed away in December 2008. Joyce’s children moved her to Rapid City in 2010 where she entered an assisted living center for a time before moving to Golden Living Center, Meadowbrook. Joyce was a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, and served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher as well as being an active member of the Ladies Aid. Joyce was one of the founding members of the Domesti-Kates Extension Club in 1951, and remained active in the club until it was dissolved in October 2007. Joyce also served as State Extension Treasurer in 1982-1983. Joyce became a 4-H leader when her children became active in 4-H activities. She was active in the Perkins County Cancer Society, helping to organize and provide food for the trail rides for 20 years. Joyce passed away on Monday morning, November 17, 2014 at the Golden Living Center Meadowbrook in Rapid City, SD. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law,ten grandchildren; one step grandchild; seven great- grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Kenneth Preszler; granddaughter Lucinda Preszler; her parents; six brothers Carl, George, Leo, Walter, Floyd, Clayton “Bud”Bartell ; one sister Evelyn Rogers; eight sisters-in-law; seven brothers-in-law; a niece, Wendy Voigt; and a nephew, Scott Bartell. Funeral services for Joyce Preszler, age 90, of Rapid City, SD, formerly of Lemmon, SD, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lemmon, SD. Rev. Frank Gantt, Rev. John Klatt and Rev. Aaron Ude will officiate with burial to follow in the Greenhill Cemetery.
