Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 7th, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Laura Joyce Windmueller was born to Joseph and Bertha (Treat) Wagner in Lemmon on January 7, 1926. She was the youngest of seven children born of this marriage. Upon the death of her older sister Helen, her niece and nephew, Nadine and Dick, joined the family and were raised and considered to be a brother and sister. During her early school years, Joyce and her friend Wilma Leiner, demonstrated their competitive jump roping skills by winning many talent shows throughout North and South Dakota. She graduated from Lemmon High School in 1943. She went to work for the Lemmon Leader and worked there until she married Maynard Windmueller on September 2, 1946. Joyce and Maynard lived in Ft. Snelling, MN while Maynard served in the military. Upon his discharge, they moved to the family farm in Bentley N.D. where they farmed for many years. In 1970, Joyce and Maynard moved to Lemmon where Joyce worked as a CNA for 25 years at Five Counties Hospital until she retired in 1995. After retiring, Joyce kept busy by volunteering at the Lemmon Nutrition Site, the Lemmon Thrift Store and was very active at Calvary Lutheran, serving on the Alter Guild, Circle and the quilting group. Joyce enjoyed bowling, playing cards and social outing with her friends. After moving to the Avera Health Center in Eureka, SD, she was a member of the resident council and was voted the best female athlete at a Tri-City Senior Olympics track meet. Joyce passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2015, at the age of 89 at the Avera Health Center, Eureka, SD. Joyce is survived by her children, Gary of Tucson, AZ, Donald (Catharine) of Phoenix, AZ, JoAnne (Brad) Dickson of Belton, TX, Dianne (Ron) Schick of Eureka, SD, Robert of Austin, CO, Cheryl (Lonnie) Wells of Lincoln, NE, Lori (Bob) Gielow of LaBelle, FL and 22 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Joyce was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Maynard, 6 brothers and sisters, one son-in-law, Reggie Christman, and one grandson Christopher Windmueller. The family requests that memorials go to Calvary Lutheran Church, Lemmon, SD, Lemmon Nutrition Site, Lemmon, SD or Eureka Avera Health Care Center, Eureka, SD. ===============================
