She was born January 10, 1924, in Lima, to Wesely and Ida Mae (Sweeney) Smith. Both preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Herman S. Diller. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1997. She is survived by a son, Bruce Diller of Elida; sister, Peggy Snyder of Lafayette, OH; and three sisters-in-laws, Mary Mishler of Elkhart, IN, Martha Yoder of Archbold, OH, and Esther (Richard) Hartman of Elida. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Chester Smith and Ellis "Sonny" Smith; sister, Dorine Spees; sister-in-law, Ruby Smith, and four brothers-in-laws, Don Snyder, Jim Spees, Carl Yoder, and Dorsa Mishler. Juanita worked as an inspector at Ex Cello, was a cook at Ralphs Restaurant, Assistant Manager of Burger King, worked in the school cafeteria at LCC, and worked at Servomation Food. She was a member of Pike Mennonite Church, the Sigma Delta Chi sorority, 1952 charter member of the Elida Volunteer fire department Ladies Aux. she played the clarinet in school and won solo at the State band contest in 1940. She graduated from Lima South High as valedictorian in 1942. She attended Government Trade School for two years, and she served as secretary to the Army for 10 years. She enjoyed cooking and she had also enjoyed quilting for 40 years. Funeral services will be held on Monday December 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with calling one hour prior to the service at the church. Joe Hartman will be officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday December 14, 2014 from 4-6 p.m. at Pike Mennonite Church in Elida. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Van Wert Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center or Angels for Animals.
