Judd James Allen was born in Lynch, Nebraska on November 17, 1949, to Donald and Claryce (Edson) Allen. Judd graduated from Lynch Public School in 1968, and attended college at the University of South Dakota at Springfield. He was married to Debra Havranek on July 24, 1971, at Lynch, where they made their home and raised their two children, Scott Daniel and Amy Elizabeth. Judd was a member of the Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Lynch. He was member of the Lynch Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as the fire chief for many years. Judd served on the Lynch Town Board, and was a member of the Nite Owls. He was employed as a utility lineman for 33 years at Niobrara Valley EMC (REA), retiring in 2006 to be able to enjoy his little piece of heaven at their cabin on the river. Judd was well known by family and friends for his ability to fix/repair just about anything and spent many hours “tinkering” or offering his advice. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Deb of Lynch, Nebraska; son, Scott and Roni (Welch) Allen of Fremont, Nebraska; daughter, Amy and Allen Walton of Creighton, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Dylan, Lane, Sydney, and Gage Walton and Elizabeth, Megan, Brody, and Riley Allen; sisters, Sue West of Omaha, Nebraska and Jill (Fred) Boelter of Creighton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don & Claryce Allen; father-in-law, Leonard Havranek; brothers-in-law, Dan Havranek and Jim West; and great-nephew, Trey Zimmerer.
