Judge Joy was a probate judge for the city of Milford from 1967 to 1998. The son of the late Edwin D., Sr. and Bernadette Fagan Joy was born Feb. 20, 1932 in Bridgeport and was a lifelong Milford resident. JOY, SR., 73, of Milford, Connecticut died July 16, 2005. He was the husband of Josephine Morelli Joy. Judge Joy was a probate judge for the city of Milford from 1967 to 1998. The son of the late Edwin D., Sr. and Bernadette Fagan Joy was born Feb. 20, 1932 in Bridgeport and was a lifelong Milford resident. He was a graduate of Fairfield University and St. John's School of Law. Judge Joy was a city police commissioner, served as chairman of the Milford Charter Revision Commission, chief judge of the Connecticut Probate Assembly and as a member of the Fairfield University Board of Directors. He also was a member of the judicial panel that investigated the L'Ambiance Plaza collapse in Bridgeport. He was honored as Man of the Year from the Milford Jaycees and was bestowed one of the city's highest honors, the Living Treasure Award in 2002. He also was awarded the Milford Elderly Services Humanitarian Award and the Devon and Walnut Beach Oldtimers Association's Humanitarian Award. He was a member of Milford Bank's board of directors, a member of St. Mary Church and past president of the Milford Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Milford High School Scholarship Committee and served on the Republican Town Committee. He was the president and judge of probate administration, state of Connecticut, and received the 2004 Human Service Award from the Milford Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Milford Yacht Club and former member of Race Brook Country Club in Orange. Judge Joy also received the Columbus Committee Recognition Award. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Bernard F., Jr., of Milford; a daughter, Mary Manley, also of Milford; and three grandchildren; two brothers, Edwin D. of Georgia and Richard A. of Florida, also survive him
