The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 am in St James Catholic Church with Rev. John Buckley officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery and Eddy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A Knights of Columbus Rosary service is scheduled for 7 pm, Tuesday, and a prayer service will follow at 7:30 pm in Eddy Chapel. Mr Fredricks served as judge for the Southeast Judicial District from 1960 until her retired in 1983. The district includes Barnes, Dickey, Eddy, Foster, LaMoure, Ransom, Richland, Sargent and Stutsman counties. He was born January 24, 1912, at Wichita, Kansas, the son of Maria A (McCulliff) and Martin C. Fredricks Sr. He moved with his parents to Jamestown where he graduated from Jamestown High School in 1930 and attended Jamestown College for three years. He studied law and in 1936 passed the North Dakota State Bar Examination. He spent several years in local law enforcement. He married Mary Gossett at Jamestown in 1939. In 1942, he entered the United States Army and took part in the invasion of Normandy. He was wounded in action and spent time in the United States Army Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Following his discharge from the Army at Springfield in 1946, he returned to Jamestown and served as adjudication officer for the Veterans Administration from 1947 until 1950. Mr Fredricks entered private law practice in 1951. He served as police magistrate for Jamestown for several years and was Stutsman County States Attorney before being elected District Judge in 1960. Mr Fredricks was chairman of the Stutsman County Democratic N.P.L. party and was instrumental in getting the late John F. Kennedy to attend a Democratic rally in Jamestown in 1960. He was a member of the Stutsman County Bar Association, North Dakota State Bar Association, Knights of Columbus, Jamestown Elks No. 995, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 760, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and St. James Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; five children, Martin C. Fredricks III and John C. Fredricks, both of Jamestown; Mrs. Lynn Clancy (Janice), Bismarck; J. Thomas Fredricks, Fort Launderdale, Florida; and Mrs. Don Medal (Mary Agnes), Grand Forks; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
