Martin Greer officiating. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. Forest Shaull and Hollis Fish who sang "Rock of Ages" and "Beautiful Isle." James and Sarah Emma Newton, was born Sept. 25, 1883, at Hillsdale, Ill. In 1903 the family moved to Iowa. On Jan. 31, 1916, Mr. Newton was married to Clara Refer of Ladora. To this union three children were born, Erwin of Victor, Mrs. Kathryn Grier of Newton and Clara Mae at home. Mr. and Mrs. Newton moved to Victor in 1924. Mr. Newton worked at the barber trade for many years but more recently had worked with his brother, Ellis, as a piano tuner. Early in life he was baptized in the Methodist faith. He is survived by his wife, and children, his aged mother, two brothers, Ellis of Ottumwa and Earl of Belle Plaine. His father, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
