| Description | : | JUDGE WILLIAM RANDOLPH BARKSDALE, SR William Randolph Barksdale was the son of Elisha Barksdale and Judith Armistead (nee Barksdale)Barksdale. He served in the Virginia Militia during the Civil War. He later attended the University of Virginia, receiving his M.A. in 1870. He was admitted to the bar and was elected Judge of Halifax County. He served from 1874-1880, and from 1886-1904; then was elected Judge of Sixth Judicial District of Virginia. He held this position until his death.
