Description	:	Judy Petersen was born in Omaha, NE to Carl and Vada (Goetze) Petersen. At the age of one, Judy and her parents moved to a farm south of Pilger, NE where she attended a rural school for the first 8 years of her schooling. She graduated from Pilger High School in 1959. Judy continued to prepare herself for a career in education. She spent 3 years teaching for Fremont Public Schools before marrying Ronald Hennig on August 15, 1964. Read More	Judy Petersen was born in Omaha, NE to Carl and Vada (Goetze) Petersen. At the age of one, Judy and her parents moved to a farm south of Pilger, NE where she attended a rural school for the first 8 years of her schooling. She graduated from Pilger High School in 1959. Judy continued to prepare herself for a career in education. She spent 3 years teaching for Fremont Public Schools before marrying Ronald Hennig on August 15, 1964. That same year, she began teaching in the Omaha Public School system. While teaching, she continued her education, earning her Bachelors and a Masters plus 30 hours from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Judy continued to work in OPS, including 15 years at Crestridge Elementary as a teacher and then as a supervisor for the Gifted and Talented Program until her retirement in 1996, when her first grandchild was born. She was nominated as "The Nebraska Gifted Educator of the Year" in 1995. She was always active with Pacific Hills, St. Andrew's and Lutheran Church of the Master, teaching Sunday School, vacation Bible School and writing Children's Sunday School curriculum. She also served on various church leadership groups and either taught or attended Bible classes through 2008. During this time, Judy took great joy in being a vital part of the lives of her seven grandchildren; Keegan, Kenzie, Khloee, Klaire, Kitrik and Katryn Lathrum, and Lola Garner. Judy is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Ronald; daughters, Jennifer Lathrum (Kip), Omaha, and Jill Garner (Kevin), Omaha; brother Kenneth Petersen (Sandra), Norfolk; and numerous nieces and nephews. SERVICE Wednesday 11am at Lutheran Church of the Master (114th and Center), Omaha, with VISITATION preceding the Service from 9-11am at the Church. INTERMENT Wednesday 3pm, Pilger Cemetery. Memorials to the Omaha School's Foundation: Judith Hennig Crestridge Scholarship Memorial Fund (3215 Cuming St., 68131) or to Lutheran Family Services.
