Description	:	Judith J. Moomey, 73, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at CHI Health Good Samaritan-Kearney. She was born January 28, 1945, in Benkelman, Nebraska, to David and LaVeta (Adkinson) Jones. Judy grew up in Benkelman where she graduated Salutatorian of her 1963 graduating class. Moomey, 73, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at CHI Health Good Samaritan-Kearney. She was born January 28, 1945, in Benkelman, Nebraska, to David and LaVeta (Adkinson) Jones. Judy grew up in Benkelman where she graduated Salutatorian of her 1963 graduating class. She then went on to further her education at the University of Nebraska, graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. It was during this time she met her prince charming, Larry Moomey. The couple was married June 25, 1967, in Benkelman, Nebraska. They moved to Memphis, Tennessee while Larry attended Optometry School. The couple moved to Nampa, Idaho for a year, returned to Nebraska, and in 1972 settled in Lexington where Larry joined Dr. Nordberg in his practice. Judy taught school at Morton Elementary. It was during this time the couple was blessed with two children; Kara, and Justin. When Kara and Justin started school she taught preschool at Grace Lutheran Preschool for 20 years. She only retired after becoming ill with Multiple Myeloma in 2010. Always active, Judy was involved in the lives of many children, friends, and family. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she held the distinction of Elder, taught Sunday school, and youth group for over 40 years. Judy was a member of Chapter FS PEO, bridge group, and enjoyed attending a salad luncheon with her girlfriends once a month. Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always smiling, made friends very easily, and never, ever said a harsh word about anyone. She was the epitone of grace and dignity even to the end. She will be so very missed. Survivors include her husband; Larry Moomey of Lexington, Nebraska; son; Justin (Erin) Moomey of Windsor, Colorado; daughter, Kara Smith of Hastings, Nebraska; six grandchildren; Keenon, Jacob, Madison, Jaron, Jack & Elise; one brother, David (Sandra) Jones of Osmond, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry; and two sisters, Evelyn and Joan. It was Judy’s wishes her body be cremated. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Monday, April 2, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Pastor Eddie Mariel officiating. PEO Rites will be at the church by Chapter FS. Inurnment will be held later in the Benkelman Cemetery. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
