Judith "Judy" Jane Walker, 80, of Catlin, Illinois, went to be with her Lord and Savior, peacefully in her sleep, on Sunday, December 27, 2020. She was in the loving care of her husband, her daughter, her grand-daughter and son-in-law at the time of her passing.
She was born in 1940 to Cleo (Dezarn) and Glen Beason. After 2 heart attacks 22 years ago, she changed to a more healthy lifestyle and was excited that she made it to her 80th birthday.
Judy graduated with a Home Economics degree from the University of Illinois in 1961. She married Jim Walker in February 1962 and together they had two children, whom they raised in Catlin, Illinois.
Judy will be greatly missed by her husband, Jim of Catlin; her daughter, Joellyn (David) Walker Parry of Sterling, Virginia; her son, Jeff (Denise Diercks) Walker of Carterville, Illinois, and her 5 grand-daughters, Caitlyn, Courtney, and Corinne Parry, and Emma and Madilynn Walker.
Judy loved fiercely and was loved dearly by all of her close friends and will be sorely missed.
Judy enjoyed getting together with her friends and attending meetings of her various clubs. She was a 50-year member of Catlin Nite Home and Community Education; she was a member of the Antiquarian Antique group that met in Catlin; she was a lifetime member of the Catlin Historical Society; she attended and lead many bible studies over the years and recently was part of a Life Group; she was a member of the Catlin United Methodist Church since 1966 and was the organizer for their funeral dinners for over 20 years.
She budgeted and used coupons to save money so she could be a stay-at-home Mom and always had milk and homemade cookies ready for her children and their friends when they came home from school. In addition, she worked several part-time jobs from home. She hemmed drapes by hand every evening for Liggett's Custom Draperies, she watched several young children; she kept the books and handled move-ins and move-outs for the local storage unit owner. She and her husband also delivered meals for the Catlin Methodist Church's Roast Beef Dinners twice a year.
