Robbs Retired from Butte Knit ~ Julia Koon Robbs, 95, of 909 Robbs School Road, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at her residence. ~ A native of Pomaria, she was the widow of Fitzhugh L. Robbs and the daughter of the late Julius H. Koon and the late Lula Hipp Koon. She was retired from Butte Knit Company in Spartanburg and was a member of Grassy Pond Baptist Church where she was a member of the Vivian McCraw Ladies' Sunday School Class. ~ Surviving are a daughter, Annie Robbs of Gaffney; a son, Julius Robbs of Gaffney; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca P. Robbs of Gaffney; four granddaughters, Sally Jackson, Susan Lovingood and Luann Davidson, all of Gaffney and Judy Bogan of Jonesville; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother Demsey Koon of Mountain Rest, Tenn. ~ In addition to her parents, Mrs. Robbs was preceded in death by a son, James C. Robbs; five sisters and six brothers. ~ Services will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Grassy Pond Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Roger Aycock and the Rev. Sidney Norton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. ~ The family will receive friends prior to the service Tuesday from 3-4 p.m. in Grassy Pond Baptist Church Social Hall. ~ Pallbearers will be Terry W. Hunt, Michael Walker, Steven Davidson, Matthew Davidson, David Jackson, Ray Wofford, Kelly Phillips, J.R. Robbs and Danny Queen. ~ Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Suite 101, Spartanburg, S.C. 29301; or to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342; or to Grassy Pond Baptist Church, 254 Grassy Pond Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341. ~ The family is at the home. ~ Arrangements by Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home.
