NEWS GAZETTE - Thursday, February 28th, 1985 - The Rite of the Christian Burial was celebrated in memory of Julia Elvina Moylan today (Thursday) at 10:30 a.m. Celebrant was Fr Richard Bergman, pastor of the St Patrick's Catholic Church in Bayard. James Fitzpatrick served as lector. The service was held in the Bayard Catholic Church and interment was made in the Willow Township Cemetery. The casket was carried by Mark McDermott, Michael Hagan, Patrick Hagan, Jerome Hagan, Joseph Fitzpatrick, Edward Fitzpatrick, Daniel Moylan and David Moylan. A rosary was prayed in her honor Wednesday night at the Ohde Funeral Home. A longtime resident of the Bayard area and one who was always involved in community affairs, she died Monday at the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids where she had been a resident for several months. Julia, daughter of Dave and Lucy Carberry Watts, was born February 22, 1898, near Panora. She was graduated from Guthrie County High School at Panora in 1916. She taught in the rural schools of Guthrie County for two years. On November 19, 1919, she was united in marriage with Arthur Moylan at St Mary's Church in Guthrie Center. They farmed north of Bayard all of their married life. Julia stayed on the farm after her husband's death on April 9, 1971, moving to a senior citizen apartment in Bayard in 1978. For the last year and a half she has made her home at the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids. She died there on Monday, February 25, at the age of 87 years and three days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, one sister, a son-in-law, and a great grandson. She is survived by five children: Dr John Moylan and his wife, Marjean of Woodside, Calif; Regina (Mrs Tom) Ryan of Carroll; Rita (Mrs Art) McDermott of Perry; Madonna (Mrs James) Hagan of Bayard, and Kathleen (Mrs Tom) Ferguson of Highpoint, NC; by 27 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren; and a sister, Isabel (Mrs John) Laudel of Richland, Wash. Julia was a member of St Patrick's Parish in Bayard and of St Patrick's Guild. She also held membership in the Bayard American Legion Auxiliary and the Bayard Woman's Club.
