Read More	JULIA IRIS EYCHNER FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Funeral services for Julia Iris Eychner were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Allnutt Funeral Service Drake Road Chapel. Interment was at Grandview Cemetery. Mrs. Eychner, 84, of Fort Collins, Colo., died Saturday, May 9, 1998. She was born April 5, 1914, the third of six daughters of Albert S. Farner and Iris I. Betts Farner. She was reared on the farm homesteaded by her grandfather Seneca Betts at the corner of what is now Horsetooth Road and College Avenue in Fort Collins. She and her sisters worked on the family farm, helping with the “pickle” harvest, and she graduated from the “new” Fort Collins High School in 1933. She married Orin Daniel Eychner Sept. 10, 1933. They made their home in the then rural Number 10 District west of Fort Collins where they lived in a sheepherder’s trailer with their infant son while they built their first home. They had five children, Robert L., Daniel E., Juanita R., Glenn O., and Donna J. In 1937, they purchased the farm that was Mrs. Eychner’s childhood home from her mother and moved their family back to the country, where they lived until Fort Collins began to surround them once again and they surrendered the farm to the progress of development. In 1971, they moved to her present home on South ?aft Hill Road. Her husband died on Aug. 9, 1994. She was a member of the Grant Avenue Presbyterian Church in north Fort Collins until it closed. At that time, the family joined the First Church of the Nazarene and helped relocate the church from its Mountain Avenue location to the present site. She was a leader of a Women’s Bible Study group that met for more than 40 years, dissolving only within the past 10 years as most of the members died. During the Depression, the Eychners were regular musicians at the local “Dutch Hops” at Tinmath, ???dington, Windsor, and surrounding towns. Except for seasonal relocation for jobs on the Western slope and a brief stay in Cheyenne during the war years, she spent her life in Fort Collins. After her husband’s retirement and their sale of the farm, they spent time traveling, realizing a lifelong dream to visit the Holy Land. They also visited Hawaii and through the Summer Bummers chapter of the Good Sam Club (RV club), have visited much of the U.S. and Canada. She was also an artist, and in recent years was active in the Fort Collins Senior Center where she specialized in ceramic painting. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sisters Gertrude Farner Whitbeck and Jessie Farner Miller, son Robert Lee Eychner and daughter Donna Julia Eychner. She is survived by sons Daniel E. Eychner of Green River and Glenn O. Eychner of San Antonio, Texas and by her daughter, Juanita R. Duke, Fort Collins; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Violet R. Ransom, Fort Collins, Ada A. Kerwood, Fort Collins, and Bobbie J. Kutkuhn of Grayling, Mich.
