After John and Lydia married they moved to Canada where their first 4 children Julia, Nehemiah, Talbot and Thomas were born. They joined Lydia's brother John Rogers' family in Erie County Pennsylvania and accompanied them to Racine County, Wisconsin where her father and other siblings were already settled. The Finch family had 4 more children Lydia Ann, Mary Jane, Rufus and Felinda born in Wisconsin. By 1860 John and Lydia had moved to Olmsted County Minnesota living with 2 sons Nehemiah and Thomas and the 3 youngest children. John Finch died in March 1870 (1870 Mortality Census Oronoco, Olmsted Co, MN). Lydia Finch in 1880 is living in Marshall, Lyon, Minnesota next door to the family of her daughter Mary Jane Rogers Hoyt. Lydia died there in Marshall 13 April 1882.
