She was born in Rawlings, on her fathers birthday, Aug. 2, 1912, and was the eldest daughter of the late William and Desdemona (Powell) Loar. She was born in Rawlings, on her fathers birthday, Aug. 2, 1912, and was the eldest daughter of the late William and Desdemona (Powell) Loar. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, George, John and Wesley Loar; one sister, Rose B. Loar; and a niece, Janet Loar Russell. Julia is survived by four sisters, Anna M. Loar, St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Center, Mary P. Llewellyn and husband William, Rawlings, Ella R. Fazenbaker and husband John Edison, and Esther N. Wiland and husband Melvin of Lonaconing. Also surviving are two sister-in-laws, Irene Loar, Frostburg; and Helen Loar, Barton; nine nephews; and seven nieces. Julia was awarded a diploma in Biblical Doctrinal Missionary and Practical Subjects in 1936 from Zion Bible Institute, Providence, R.I. She also received a bachelor of sacred literature degree in 1951 from Holmes Bible College in Greenville, S.C. Julia also graduated from South Baltimore General School of Nursing, Baltimore. Julia worked many different jobs from the time that she completed her schooling at the Dye School until she graduated from college and nursing school. For a period of time, she worked at the Falcon Children's Home in Falcon, Ga. She later worked at the Allegany County Nursing Home on Furnace Street in Cumberland, from 1956 until 1974 when she retired. She was known for her compassionate and loving manner that she portrayed to all. She was a faithful member of Bethel Holiness Church in Lonaconing where she had taught the Adult Sunday School Class. Also, for many years she was the corresponding secretary for both foreign and national missionaries and organized the shipping of literature and clothing to be used at various mission stations in the United States and around the World. Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Main Street, Lonaconing, on Tuesday, Jan. 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, where friends will also be received. The celebration of Julia's life will be held at Bethel Holiness Church, Bethel Drive, Lonaconing, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 12. The service will be conducted be her nephew and pastor, George R. Loar and Pastor Gary L. Gordon. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Lonaconing. (contributor-dwcooley #47566461)
