Description	:	He was the son of the late Dr. Julian H. Fair, Sr. and Annie Lou Banks Fair. He graduated from St. Matthews High School. He graduated from Clemson University in 1949. He served in the U. S. Army for three years at Fort Dixon in New Jersey. He worked as a poultry farmer for twelve years and then went to work for Banks Fertilizer. He also worked as a part-time Math teacher at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. He served on Town Council, for the Town of St. Matthews, for six years. After serving St. Matthews as Town... Read More	He was the son of the late Dr. Julian H. Fair, Sr. and Annie Lou Banks Fair. He graduated from St. Matthews High School. He graduated from Clemson University in 1949. He served in the U. S. He also worked as a part-time Math teacher at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. He served on Town Council, for the Town of St. Matthews, for six years. After serving St. Matthews as Town Administrator for twenty-three years, he was elected Mayor and served in this position for fifteen years. It has been said that his reputation for frugality and fiscal responsibility is a "Legend around St. Matthews". He was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He loved his family, genealogy, St. Matthews, Fox News and Joy #2. He was predeceased by his wife, Dois Hane Fair. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Hal Fair (Sherry) of Wagener, SC and Hane Fair (Harvin) of Columbia, SC; two grandchildren, Dr. Rainey Chadwell (Dr. Brandon Chadwell) of Spartanburg, SC and Banks Harrison Fair (Mardi) of Lake Murray, SC; and two great-grandchildren, SummerBell Fair and Harrison Chadwell. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 4, 2014 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, St. Matthews, SC, with the Reverend John Hipp and the Reverend Suzanne Walker officiating.
