Description	:	Julian Leslie "Nub" Hartman, 80, of Moorefield, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at King's Daughters' Hospital. He was born Sept. 12, 1930, in Moorefield, the son of Fay and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Gray Hartman. He lived in the Moorefield community on the Hartman family farm all of his life and was a 1948 graduate of Vevay High School. Read More	Julian Leslie "Nub" Hartman, 80, of Moorefield, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at King's Daughters' Hospital. He was born Sept. 12, 1930, in Moorefield, the son of Fay and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Gray Hartman. He lived in the Moorefield community on the Hartman family farm all of his life and was a 1948 graduate of Vevay High School. He served in the Army from Jan. 26, 1954, to Dec. 1, 1955, serving during the Korean War. He farmed all of his life on the family farm near Moorefield, where he raised cattle, tobacco, corn, wheat, soybeans and hay. He was the recipient of the Silver Star Award from the Switzerland County Soil and Water Conservation District in 2006. The Hartman family has continually operated the Hartman family farm for 108 years, and received the Homestead award from Gov. Joseph Kernan in 2004 for continuous operation of a family farm for 100 years in Indiana. He operated Hartman's Livestock Hauling for over 40 years and could often be seen driving through Vevay with a load of livestock on his way to the Stockyards. He was a member of Caledonia United Presbyterian Church at Moorefield, the Bear Creek Coon Hunters Association and the Switzerland County Saddle Club. He was also a member of the Switzerland County 4-H Fairboard, where he served for many years, helping at fair time with the livestock auction and mentoring the Switzerland County youth with their animals. He enjoyed coon hunting, attending cattle sales and attending horse and pony pulls. He is survived by his wife, Louise Law Hartman, whom he married March 13, 1952; one daughter, Vicki Lee Bear of Moorefield; one son, Chris Lynn Hartman of Madison; one sister, Jean Humphreys of Moorefield; three grandsons; three great-grandsons; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Wayland Hartman, Rowin Hartman, J.B. Hartman, Frank Hartman, Elbert Hartman and William Miles Hartman; and three sisters, Helen Grimes, Bernice Dibble and Virginia Hall. The funeral was at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in Vevay Cemetery. Military honors were conducted graveside by Vevay Post 185 of the American Legion and the Vevay Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5396. Madison Courier 7/26/11
