Description	:	Mrs. Mike Berner of Quincy, Ill., a former resident of Hawarden, passed away at 12:40 Sunday afternoon following an illness of but three days. Mrs. Berner had suffered an attack of flu some time ago but had fully recovered from this, so her death was a great shock to her husband. Her remains were brought to Hawarden, arriving here on the 5:10 North Western train Tuesday evening, accompanied by her husband. Julie Christensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris D. Christensen of Everly, Iowa, was born at Spencer January 14, 1905, and passed away at Quincy, Ill., March 16, 1941, and so was but 36 years, 2 months and 2 days of age at the time of her death. She was united in marriage with Mike Berner October 23, 1923, at Spencer. Mr. Berner is employed by the United Construction company of Winona, Minn., as superintendent of the building of bridges and thus they lived in many parts of the country. They came to Hawarden in 1927 and for two years made their home here while Mr. Berner had charge of the construction of bridges in Sioux county. She possessed a most happy and friendly disposition and during the brief time she lived her she made many friends who are sorry to learn of her untimely death. Besides her husband she is survived by her parents, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Fitzgibbons of Wesley, S.D., Mrs. Anna Hiesler of Dickens, Iowa, Mrs. Christine Bies of Central City, S.D., and one brother, Henry Christensen, who is with the Asiatic division of the United States navy and is cruising in the waters near China. Out of town relatives who came to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Christensen of Everly, Mr. and Mrs. Hiesler of Dickens and Mrs. Mary Fitzgibbons of Wolsey, S.D. When these relatives were informed of Mrs. Berner's death they were under the impression that she would be interred at Quincy and drove to Illinois only to learn that her remains were to be brought here for burial.
