They are the parents of John Ludwig & Edward Hecter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The following obituary was provided by: Doris H. #47169507 SERVED IN THE ARMY WAS ON SERVICE IN ARMY OF OCCUPATION GOOD CITIZEN HAS PASSED AWAY Ferdinand Pech Succumbs to Serious Illness, an Operation to Save His Life Proving Fruitless--Had Lived Here More than Thirty Years Ferdinand Pech, a pioneer resident and well known citizen, died at the city hospital on Tuesday. Mr. Pech was at Lisbon, N. D. last week on business and while there was taken sick. He returned home, suffering intensely from bladder trouble and went to the hospital on Friday and on Saturday underwent an operation for relief. His death came as a great shock to his family and friends as he was accounted a man of rugged health and a strong constitution, although troubled at times with the ailment which resulted in his death. Ferdinand Pech was a native of Posen, Germany, where he was born on February 21, 1849. He came to the United States in 1875 and lived in Chicago and Illinois, later coming west to Storm Lake, and from there to Plymouth county, where he located on a farm in Elgin township, where he lived for many years, moving into Le Mars a few years ago to enjoy the latter years of life in a well earned rest. When a young man Mr. Pech served in the German army and fought in the Franco-Prussian War in 1870-71. His regiment was one of those in the army of occupation and was stationed at Mainz, remaining there at the close of the war until the French indemnity was paid. Mr. Pech was twice married. His first wife was named Caroline Hintz and to this union nine children were born. They were Henry Pech, of Milnor, N. D., Mrs. Myron Mordoff, of Princess Anne, Maryland, Mrs. Rose Mandelkow, of Struble, Mrs. Harry Mordoff, of Le Mars, Mrs. Lillie Lancaster, of Seney, Mrs. Carrie Elsen, Will, Fred, and George on the farm in Elgin township. Nineteen years ago he was united in marriage with Johanna Detels, of Lauenberg, Germany, who survives him. Two boys, John and Edward, were born to this union. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Henry Detloff, of this city, and Mrs. Chas. Duschinske, of Storm Lake. The funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at the United Evangelical church. Mr. Pech was a hard working, industrious and law abiding citizen, who enjoyed the respect and confidence of a large number of associates. He was a good husband and father, friend, and neighbor and his death is sincerely regretted by a large circle of relatives and friends.
