Description	:	Julius "Jiggs" Hill, 92 Julius was born on April 2, 1923, in Gifford, Idaho, the son of Henry “Bert” and Julia “Jude” (Kollenborn) Hill. He was married to Elda Ferne Downes on May 24, 1947. They had four children. "Jiggs" graduated early from Columbia Falls High School so he could enlist in 1941 to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a flame-thrower, 50-caliber machine gun operator, as well as a 30-06 rifle sniper. He had an honorable discharge in 1945. Following the war, Jiggs worked in Hungry Horse as a bartender for the Bureau of Reclamation until the completion of the dam. He spent the remainder of his career employed at Plum Creek and retired after 30 years. He was preceded by his parents, his brother Chet, and his grandchild Joleen Johnson. He was survived by his wife, Ferne; his children; his grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
