Description	:	Julius C. Nelson, 82, longtime Mohall barber, died Tuesday in a Kenmare hospital. His funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall, with burial later in the spring in the Lesje Cemetery, rural Souris. He was born June 13, 1906, to Carl and Clara Holm Nelson in Cordelia Township, Bottineau County, 14 miles northeast of Bottineau and grew up and attended school at Roth. Nelson, 82, longtime Mohall barber, died Tuesday in a Kenmare hospital. His funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall, with burial later in the spring in the Lesje Cemetery, rural Souris. He was born June 13, 1906, to Carl and Clara Holm Nelson in Cordelia Township, Bottineau County, 14 miles northeast of Bottineau and grew up and attended school at Roth. On March 22, 1929, he married Mabel Tolstad. After their marriage he farmed for a year at Roth. In the spring of 1930 they moved to Minneapolis where he began a career of 58 ½ years as a barber. He graduated from the Twin Cities Barber College in June 1930 and barbered in Milton and Minot before moving to Mohall Oct. 12, 1932. In Mohall he was a barber for 55 years, retiring last June 18. His wife died March 26, 1975. In the 1960s and early 1970s, Nelson operated Northwest Aerial Oil Survey Inc., and mapped oil pools with instruments that picked up signals from underground oil pools. He was a member of Zion Church and he served on the church council and building committee. He was a former chairman of the Mohall Park Board. For many years he was president of the Lake Darling Sportsman Club, which was responsible for motorboat regulations on the lake. On Nov. 19, 1977, he married Esther Cook at Williston. Survivors: wife, son, Jerrall, Hettinger; daughters, Clarice Tande, Souris and Clareen Vestre, Bottineau; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; stepsons, Henry Homann, Casper, Wyo., Harvey Homann, Phoenix, Ariz.; stepdaughter, Shayne Coady, Tioga, La.; seven stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; brothers, Carl, Williston, Johannes and Arthur, Bottineau; sister, Esther Tonneson, Minot.
