"Julius Schmidt Hansen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Mortensen, was born June 9, 1882, at Thommerstripe, Denmark." "He came to America when 18 years old and spent most of the remainder of his life in the Norfolk area. He was married Feb. 28, 1914 to Anna Nissen of Stanton. They farmed near Pilger until about 1943 and then moved to Norfolk where he was employed by the Norfolk Feed Mills until his retirement." He was survived by his wife, 2 sons: Earl at Norfolk, Harold at Mead; 2 daughters: Mrs. Viola Anderson at Omaha, Mrs. Nora Mumm at Portland, Oregon; 1_ grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 son Elmer who lost his life Dec. 21, 1944, in the Battle of the Bulge in France in World War II.
