Death came to Julius Ellig, Wednesday evening, June 9, 1948 in the Tecumseh hospital, where he had been taken last week after suffering a stroke of paralysis early Friday morning at his home. He had reached the age of seventy-six years, eight months and six days. Although everything possible was done for Mr. Ellig, the severity of his illness was too great for human help and he passed to his reward. Julius son of Casper and Catherine Ellig was born Oct. 3, 1871 at Grumback, Germany. He came to the United States in 1881, sixty-seven years ago, and located at Peru, Illinois. Four years later he came on west and located at Dunbar, Nebraska, where he resided until 1895, when he moved to Burr, also in Otoe County. On Oct 29, 1905 he was married to Caroline Niewald, who preceded him in death in 1935. To them were born four children, three daughters and one son. One of the daughters, Mrs. Lena Claus, passed on in 1932. Surviving are: Anna Ellig, Hilda Ellig, and Fred Ellig; also four grandchildren; one brother, John Ellig, and one sister, Mrs. Jacob Lenhard. Mr. Ellig was a kind and considerate husband and father, and a good neighbor and friend. He will be missed by many friends, and to his sorrowing ones is extended deep sympathy in their loss. Funeral services will be held at the Zink funeral home at 10:00 o'clock Saturday morning, with Rev. Raymond Rush in charge, and burial will be in the Sterling cemetery.
