She was born June 27, 1923, in Lincoln, the daughter of Jesse and Harriett (Ruckart) Byrne. June graduated from Northeast High School in 1942. She worked as a bomb fuse inspector during World War II. Read More	June Francis (Byrne) Meehan, 93, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016. She was born June 27, 1923, in Lincoln, the daughter of Jesse and Harriett (Ruckart) Byrne. June graduated from Northeast High School in 1942. She worked as a bomb fuse inspector during World War II. Starting with a blind date on Valentine's Day, June married John Fred Meehan on July 1, 1945. She was a homemaker and Cub Scout den mother. June devoted her life to making a loving, caring home for her family. She was a caring neighbor and friend to many. She was an active member at Northeast United Church of Christ for over fifty six years. She enjoyed singing in the church's chancel choir well into her 80's. June was an active member with the women's fellowship of Northeast United Church of Christ. Her God given talent as a culinary magician, she gladly shared with many. She enjoyed helping with many meals at her church and preparing meals to be given to those in need. June was a master baker, and was known for her many pies (her Lemon Meringue pie will be missed) and her cakes (specialty-Angel Food). She took joy in surprising friends with a birthday treat on their special day. Her caring soul was strong and was more concerned about the needs of others than about her own needs. June is survived by: her sons, Jerry, Thomas, and Michael (Mary) Meehan; one grandson; two great-grandsons; sister, Lucile Beeson; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her husband, John; sons, Jesse and Peter; sister, Beatrice; brothers, Charles, Richard and Jack Byrne. Funeral Service on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Northeast United Church of Christ, Lincoln. Burial in Fairview Cemetery in Lincoln.
