Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Moorhead, Iowa with Pastor Carla Johnsen, officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, June 15, 2015 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa. June Leone was born April 7, 1934 on a farm south of Moorhead, Iowa the daughter of Wallace and Irene (Fletcher) Hoffman. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Moorhead, where she graduated from Moorhead High School in 1952. June and Norman Lee were united in marriage on May 24, 1952 at the R.L.D.S. Church in Moorhead, Iowa. The couple moved to Kentucky when Norman was called to serve in the Korean War. June moved back to Moorhead, where she worked in Jack Johnson's Grocery Store until Norman was discharged in September 1954. June also worked at the Moorhead Co-op for twenty six years as a bookkeeper. She then worked for East Monona School as a teacher's aide for several years. Later in life, June worked for the Loess Hills Visitors Center in Moorhead, Iowa where she enjoyed talking about the Loess Hills and visiting. June loved spending time with all of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she taught to play various card games. June loved to cook for her family and friends and was the "best cook ever". She also enjoyed animals, especially her dog companions. June was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Iowa. She was also a member of the Peter A. Hansen American Legion Auxiliary Post #365 of Moorhead, Iowa. Survivors include her children, Johnnie "Joe" (Andrea) Lee of Denison, IA, Julie Ann "Sis" Evers of Soldier, IA, and Nancy Jane (Bradley) DeLance of Moorhead, IA; grandchildren, Heather (Barclay) Lee Monaster, Jayna Lee, Andy Lee, Parker Lee, Hannah Lee, Max Lee, A.J. (Lisa Foley) Evers, Tyler Evers, and Brittany (Jeff Storm) Gosch; great-grandchildren, Ryan Paulsrud, Ryder Lee, and Haley Evers; two sisters, Virgie (Merval) Kennedy of Sioux City, IA, and Sue (Bill) McGuire of Moorhead, IA; one brother, Ray (Lois) Hoffman of Moorhead, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Irene; and her husband, Norman E. Lee.
