Jerry, son of Ben C. and Annette (Barkema) Jurgens, was born December 16, 1928 in Gurley, NE. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Jerry, son of Ben C. and Annette (Barkema) Jurgens, was born December 16, 1928 in Gurley, NE. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of 16, he graduated from Sidney High School. Jerry enjoyed collecting and restoring cars and farm trucks. He worked at the Mayfair Service Station with Tom Kallhoff and Pittam Body Shop after high school. Jerry joined the U.S. Air Force and was Honorably Discharged in 1951. He began farming in Cheyenne and Kimball County. He married Shirley Bules on September 19, 1953; they continued to farm and raise two children. Jerry loved his family with all of his heart. He was a tremendous man, a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved dogs and wanted each one to have a home. Jerry was a hard-working man, tending to the wheat fields each year. He enjoyed attending many auctions throughout the years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Herman, sisters Emily and Annette.
