Description	:	Karen K. Hostetler, 67 of Wood River died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society in Wood River. Karen was born June 8, 1943, in Mason City to Wayne and Maude (Lloyd) Evans. Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin. Survivors are: sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Kim Hostetler and Aron and Patricia Hostetler, all of Cairo; brother, Calvin; sister, Georgia; grandchildren, Heath, Brooklyn, Samuel and Caleb Hostetler. Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin. Survivors are: sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Kim Hostetler and Aron and Patricia Hostetler, all of Cairo; brother, Calvin; sister, Georgia; grandchildren, Heath, Brooklyn, Samuel and Caleb Hostetler. Karen grew up in Mason City and received her education from Ansley High School, graduating with the class of 1961. In 1964, she received her Nurses training from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha. She then attended Moody Bible and graduated in 1972. Prior to her marriage, Karen was employed by the hospitals in Broken Bow and Kearney. She was united in marriage to Ervin Hostetler on Sept. 5, 1975, in Broken Bow. The couple made their home in Cairo where they raised their children. She was later employed by VA Hospital. After retiring from nursing she provided childcare for several families. Karen enjoyed reading, writing poems and gardening. She also enjoyed children and had a strong faith in Jesus. They attended the Wood River Mennonite Church.
