Description	:	Karen Sue Henkle, 65, of rural Montezuma, died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 2, 2005 at her home from cancer. Her funeral service was Saturday, Nov. 5, at the United Methodist Church, Montezuma, with the Rev. Howard Lord and the Rev. Dr. George Salnave officiating. Interment was at Jackson Township Cemetery. Watts Funeral Home of Montezuma was in charge of the arrangements. Sue was born Jan. 21, 1940 at the Grinnell Community Hospital in Grinnell, the daughter of Wendell and Helen (Gilmore) McClain. She grew up in Deep River and graduated from Deep River High School in 1957. On March 1, 1958 she was united in marriage with Roger Henkle at the United Methodist Church in Montezuma. To this union four children were born, Rande, Robin, Rhonda and Heidi. Sue worked for many years until 1992 at Brownells in Montezuma. Since that time she worked various places including the Mahaffey Law Office, Studio 22, Rinehart Manufacturing, Sutherlands and the Poweshiek County Auditor's office. She was a member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed golfing, camping, reading, biking and bird-watching. Sue especially liked to spend time with her family and grandchildren. Sue is survived by her family: Rande and Paula Henkle; Robin and John Mann; and Heidi and Dan Thompson; eight grandchildren, Miranda (Shannon) Arthur, Megan Henkle, Cole Henkle, Matthew Mann, Adam Mann, Bailey Thompson, Marie Thompson and Mitchell Thompson; a great-grandson, Kodie Strong; a sister, Sally, and Dennis Johnston and their family, Michael and Brenda, Conner and Colleen and Wendy and Michael Geiger, Tyler and Tessa; and other relatives and many friends.
