Description	:	Karen Sue Meixner, 78, of Ottumwa, died at 12:31 p.m. December 27, 2020 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. She was born September 17, 1942 in Ottumwa to Wilbur “Bill” and Ruby Frazier Richardson. Karen married Larry Meixner on May 16, 1964. Karen was a graduate of Ottumwa High School and Brigham Young University. She was born September 17, 1942 in Ottumwa to Wilbur “Bill” and Ruby Frazier Richardson. Karen married Larry Meixner on May 16, 1964. Karen was a graduate of Ottumwa High School and Brigham Young University. During high school she worked at A&W Root Beer and after her marriage she worked along side her husband helping with his business. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Karen enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids rodeo and practice in the arena. She also enjoyed watching her son, Doug, race cars and all of the other family activities. Karen enjoyed crafts, cooking and other projects around the house and traveling with her husband, Larry. Surviving is her husband, Larry; her children, Doug (Grettel) Meixner of Commerce, TX, Deanna “D. D.” (Leonard) Sloat of Ottumwa and Janice “JK” (Larry) Snakenberg of Ottumwa; grandchildren, Michelle (Tyrus) Hill, Cody Meixner (fiancée Kaylyn Sellek), Thomas Sloat, Taylor (Travis) Morton, Tessa Sloat, Colton (Katie) Snakenberg and Clay Snakenberg. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Jeanette Richardson. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ottumwa Ward with Bishop Wes Vander Martin officiating. For those unable to be at the service, you may watch live at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 31st on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Limited open visitation will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 30th at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Online condolences may be left at www.rfh-ia.com. Memorials may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ottumwa Ward to benefit their local welfare program.
