Olson Mrs. Kari Koloen passed away at her home here last Wednesday as a result of physical afflictions that were augmented by the infirmities of old age. She was past 83 years of age, having been a resident of this county since 1896. She was taken ill on October 11 and has been practically bed-ridden since that time. Olson Mrs. Kari Koloen passed away at her home here last Wednesday as a result of physical afflictions that were augmented by the infirmities of old age. She was past 83 years of age, having been a resident of this county since 1896. She was taken ill on October 11 and has been practically bed-ridden since that time. Mrs. Koloen was born on October 11, 1847, in Gulbransdalen, Norway. She was united in marriage to Nels Kolo]en, leaving Norway for America in the spring of 1896, when they came to Griggs County to make their home on May 21, 1896, on a farm a short distance north of Binford. In the fall of 1919, Mr. and Mrs. Koloen moved into town, where Mr. Koloen passed away June 21, 1922. Six children were born to this union, all of whom are living. They are John Koloen of Marquam, Oregon, Mathias Koloen of Silverton, Oregon, Syver Koloen of Binford, Mrs. Ronnaug Holen of Britton, South Dakota, Paul Koloen of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Mrs. Anna Amudson of Binford. Twenty-nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren also survive. Impressive funeral services were held from the Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday afternoon, Rev. M. B. Ordahl officiating, and burial was made in the cemetery west of town. Special music was furnished by the church choir.
