Born at St. Stephen NB on February 8, 1949, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Diena (Cooke) Matheson. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by two sons; Marven Matheson (Jennie Schmitz) of Second Falls NB and Kenneth Matheson of Spruce Grove AB, two daughters; Melinda Beth Matheson (Robert Waring) of Seeley's Cove NB and Laura (Jamie) Burgh of Stony Plain AB, grandchildren; Nathan Parker, Tristan Matheson, Lila Burgh and Kayden Matheson, two sisters; Esther Patterson and Betty Seelye both of L'Etang NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Karl was predeceased by one daughter, Melissa, one sister, Marilyn Steen and by one brother, Donald Matheson. Prior to his illness, Karl worked as a labourer and truck driver for local employers. Within his family he was known as a weekend farmer who loved all animals. Karl loved spending all of his time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who meant the world to him. He was a former member of the Orange Lodge and will be missed by all who knew him. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street with visitation on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A graveside service will be held on Monday at 2 pm at the St. George Rural Cemetery with Pastor Jody McBeth officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
