FUNERAL SERVICES HELD SATURDAY FOR MRS. WILLIAM THOMS: Resident of Jamestown vicinity since 1885 coming from Wisconsin: Funeral services for the late Mrs. Wm. Thoms, resident of this vicinity for over forty years who died at the home of her son-in-law, J. Rick, near Clementsville Thursday, were held Saturday afternoon and interment made in Highland cemetery. A short service was held at the Rick home at 1 p.m. and at 2:30 services were held at the St. John's Lutheran church of Jamestown with Rev. W.W.A. Keller in charge, and attended by a large number from these communities in which the deceased had lived and reared her family. Music for the services was by the St. John's Congregation with a special duet by Mrs. C. Fleutsch and Rev. Keller. OBITUARY: Caroline Dorothy Thoms was born September 14, 1844 in Germany. She was married there to Ferdinand Howe and to this union there were born two children, the present Mrs. J. Rick of Clementsville, and Wm. Howe. The family came to this country in 1873 and settled near Ripon, Wisconsin, where they lived twelve years and where her husband died. She, with her two children, came to North Dakota in 1885 and has lived in the state since, twenty two years on a farm near Clementsville and twenty years in Jamestown. She was married to William Thoms in 1885 and to this union there was born one daughter, Mrs. Chas. Kelley, now of Hansdale, (Hinsdale?) Montana. Mr. Thoms died in 1917. Since then she has lived alone except the last year which she spent with her daughter in Montana, returning here in August. About two weeks ago, she was taken seriously sick and her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Kelley, was sent for and was with her until the end came. She showed improvement and had gone out to her other daughter's, Mrs. J. Rick, for a visit when she was again taken sick and passed away there. She leaves to mourn her sudden death, two daughters and one son, five step-children, namely Mrs. Ida Thompson, Mrs. E. Tunnycliffe of Willman, B.C., Mrs. Chas. Stuff, Saco, Montana, Mrs. Wm. Howe and Fred Thoms of Clementsville, twenty grandchildren, two-great-grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Papstein and Mrs. August Rick, Henry, William and Chas. Stuff.
