Read More	Cherokee Evening Times: Oct. 10, 1923: pg 1 Kate Elizabeth Krum was born in Ulster county, New York, June 27, 1847, and died Oct. 6, 1923, aged 76 years, 3 months and 9 days. In 1848 her parents moved to Tompkins county, New York, where she grew to womanhood. She united with the M. E. church when a girl. November 29, 1866, she was united in marriage to Charles A. Cantine and to this union three children were born; H. L. Cantine of Quimby, Ia., Holmes Cantine, and Mrs. Oscar Stevenson of Cherokee. In 1878 she with her family moved to Cedar county, where she lived two year's, coming to Ida county in 1880. In 1884 she moved to Cherokee county and has resided here until the time of her death. Her husband departed this life July 8, 1896, and since that time she has made her home with her daughter. In 1873 she became a charter member of the Order of Eastern Star, Slaterville, N. Y., it being one of the first of its kind. She took the work under the hands of Robert Morris, the originator of the order, and has been a member ever since. She had a bright and sunny disposition and although, not well for many years, was always ready to do anything she could for others. Her death leaves a vacant place not only in the hearts of her loved ones but also in the hearts of all who knew her. The funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Oct. 8, conducted by Rev. E. J. Plummer of Early, Iowa. Interment was made in Silver cemetery: where Carnation Chapter, O. E. S., held a very impressive service.
