Read More	Last Wednesday evening, Mrs. William Conlon was called to eternal rest. Mention was made last week and the previous week of her serious illness. No means were spared to provide for her recovery, but all seemed useless. For a time she rallied, but a change for the worse followed and the heart that had beaten high for the joys and hopes of promising womanhood was stilled in death. The funeral was held Friday morning. It was perhaps as large as ever witnessed in Emmetsburg. There were between 155 and 120 teams in the procession. Services were held in the Catholic Church and all that was mortal of her who was but a few months ago a bride, was tenderly laid to rest in Saint John’s Cemetery. The pallbearers were Chris, James, John, Thomas, Patrick and Michael Conlon. The casket was adorned with beautiful floral offerings and the floral and other decorations in and about the grave, as prepared for the reception of the remains, were most exquisite, evidence of the sympathy and kind consideration of friends. The immediate relatives who mourn her loss are her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Selle, two brothers and one sister. Katie Selle was born in Dubuque County, Iowa, in 1876. Her parents continued to reside in that section until about seven years ago, when they came to this county. Her father purchased a farm in Great Oak Township. She was a handsome young lady, the pride of her parents, and she enjoyed the esteem of all who knew her. Feb. 18, 1898, she became the wife of William Conlon. They commenced housekeeping in his new residence in the southeast part of this city and were entering upon a life brightening with the most hopeful promises. Less than five months had elapsed when death summoned her, changing gladness into gloom, bowing the head of he who had thus been bereft of his fair companion and bringing anguish to the hearts of her idolizing parents her brothers and her sister. Such are the sad and strange experiences of life, and such are frequently the painful disappointments when the cup of joy appears sweetest. The burdens of those who are grief-stricken are indeed heavy to bear, but there is consolation in the knowledge that her life was that of a most devoted and respectful daughter, a true sister, a loving faithful wife, and a most gracious, companionable young woman.
