VACLAV PTACEK, BRUNO Mrs. Vaclav Ptacek died at her home in Bruno at 11:30 o’clock on Thursday morning, January 17, 1935, after a serious illness of two months duration with heart and kidney disease. She was 74 years, 7 months and 3 days of age at the time of her death. Funeral services were held on Saturday morning from the home to St. Anthony’s church, the requiem mass being celebrated by Rev. Bart. Kvitek, OSB, at ten o’clock. Interment was in St. Anthony’s cemetery. The pall bearers were her sons, James, John, Ben and Fred and sons-in-law, Emil Stava and Edward Zeleny. Catherine Kunesh, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kunesh was born in Czecho-Slovakia on June 11, 1860. When nine year of age she emigrated with her parents to the United States, settling in Cleveland, Ohio. On May 10, 1880, she was united in marriage to Vaclav Ptacek in Cleveland. On moving to Nebraska the Ptacek family engaged in farming for many years in Saunders county, just across the line from Butler county. Later they moved to Kansas and continued farming there. On retiring from farm life, Mr. and Mrs. Ptacek moved to Bruno, where they have made their home for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Ptacek were the parents of nine children, two of who died in infancy. Besides her husband, Mrs. Ptacek is survived by four sons, Ben, James, and Fred of Bruno, and John of Dwight and three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Agnes) Slaby of Ceresco, Mrs. Emil (Mary) Stava and Mrs. Edward (Bessie) Zeleny of Bruno and a number of grandchildren. One brother in Cleveland, Ohio, and one brother in Pine City, Minn., also survive the deceased. Mrs. Ptacek was a devout Catholic, friendly and kind in her associations with her friends and neighbors. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved.
